11:00 AM - 11:45 AM: "Gross National Happiness" Eric will be discussing Thomas Jefferson's ideas on the pursuit of happiness as expressed in the Declaration of Independence with several prominent Bhutanese scholars who will present the contemporary Bhutanese ideas of Gross National Happiness as articulated by Bhutan's Fourth King.

1:15 PM - 2:00 PM: "Monarchy and Democracy" The discussion will be about monarchy and democracy as experienced by Thomas Jefferson and others in America in contrast to Bhutan's experience with respect to Bhutan's transition from from absolute monarchy to constitutional democracy.
